Legends and Superstitions
Explore the St. Louis Cemetery #1 at dusk to hear local legends of its famous residents. This tour is only offered once a month! The cemetery’s most notable residents include:
Cassandra Van Pradles, a victim of the infamous pirate, Jean Lafitte
Marie Laveau, Infamous/Legendary Queen of Voodoo
Bernard de Marigny de Mandeville, Statesman, gambler, duelist and an all around colorful Creole.
Nicholas Cage, Yes, the actor. He has a grave here.
Saint Louis Cemetery is owned and managed by the New Orleans Catholic Archdiocese.
The tour will meet and depart from the main gates to Armstrong Park: 801 North Rampart Street.
